Overview

They are the Ghost Ops: a covert squad of super-elite soldiers. After their team was betrayed and massacred, the three surviving members went underground and built Haven, a community of misfits and geniuses. Now they're at a crossroads, facing a new threat capable of destroying everything they hold dear.

When Nick Ross disappears from Elle Thomason's life, she is certain she'll never see the man she loves again—except in her dreams. Ten years later, as a respected researcher breaking new ground in psychic phenomena, she sends a desperate call for Nick's help. One by one, her colleagues have started disappearing . . . and Elle knows she's next. An elite soldier, Nick never meant to hurt Elle, duty kept him away—and then she vanished. Now troubled by unusually vivid, disturbing dreams of Elle in danger, Nick will rescue the only woman he's ever wanted and bring her back with him to Haven.

Though powerful men are after Elle and her special abilities, Nick will die before leaving her side again.

“Watching a warrior choose a woman over his brotherhood is definitely addictive, and for me, I Dream of Danger was a gateway drug.”

This was a good book that should have been great. Too much time spent one the early years, approximately one third of the book, and too much rehashing of information provided in the first book. Dropping needed info from a previous book to catch readers up is fine but only once. The same recap of the first book kept being repeated. Between that and the early years only about half the book moved the story forward. The ending felt rushed besides going a little too far into the whole science fiction thing. Overall I was disappointed after waiting so anxiously for this book. I much prefer her books written as Elizabeth Jennings.

3.5 Stars ~Reviewed by FRANCESCA & posted at Under the Covers Book Blog I am torn between liking and being a bit meh about this series. I have to say I DREAM OF DANGER was a better book for me than the first in this series. And although I found the story interesting, it lacked something to keep me invested and wanting to know what happens next. But see, I have a problem. I don’t think I’m a fan of the romantic suspense with the light psychic/paranormal element. Either give me a straight romantic suspense with hot military guys and a suspenseful and action-packed plot or just give me a good paranormal romance. The light mix of the two doesn’t do it for me. I think if the author wanted to take this story more of the X-Men route it needs more of that. We do have the big bad crazy which is causing all sorts of trouble in this book. The bad guys is like a mad scientist. I didn’t love reading his point of view and wish those parts were a bit shorter. Then of course there’s our main couple. Nick and Elle’s love story is a second chance romance. They knew each other before he was a special ops military guy and before she was a known researchers in the psychic field. Her colleagues have started disappearing and just before she does as well, she sends a psychic call for help to her one true love, Nick, who she hasn’t seen or heard of in ten years. Nick and then Ghost Ops then come to the rescue. I loved their relationship and even though a bit rushed, they had history so I overlooked that. Nick was supposed to come back to Elle and just didn’t because of his duty and being called away on a mission. By the time he came back Elle had gone on with her life, changing her name and following her other dreams in different places. This book was a quick read and the chemistry between Elle and Nick was palpable. They definitely kept the story interesting. I am on the fence about continuing with the series but since this book ends in a cliffhanger…. I may have to. *Review copy provided by publisher

Usually I read an LMR book and immediately start it over again; her characters are just that gripping. This one was, unfortunately, a let down. I really enjoyed the first book in the series but I didn't feel a lot of the information needed to be rehashed. The reader never sees Nick and Elle fall in love; we are just told they are. Their history is focused on more than their present and both characters changed so much in the years between that I was confused why they were together at all. There was a lot of focus on the "bad guy" which would have been fine if the author took just as long on the primary characters. Overall I felt the book was a condensed version of a potentially great story.

Lisa Marie Rice will not be on my auto-buy list any longer. Too much world-building in this book, not enough interaction between Nick and Elle. Sorry, but Nick doesn't do anything for me except engender distaste.

I liked it very much. The men in this book were in the military, as Black OPs.They were betrayed, right here at home. Some of the team died, and others were captured. What happened to the captured men????. You will not believe what DID happen. The men who survived. Well this story is about how they survived. They could be hunted and killed if they could be found. How they got out of this mess is what kept me wanting to read more and more. I could not wait until I read Book #3. They built their own community. They found love, and were able to see a future with the women they loved, and families. They also rescued the captured men of their team. Read it. I did, and then you can say what you want about this book..

I like that fact that they explain Nick and how he came in Elle life. I think to much time was spent on it. But I like it anyway. I also enjoyed the continued ideal of the doctor trying to create the super soldiers What disappointed me was they turn into the same infected people from the movie 28 days later. ,

Wonderful! Once you start to read, the story grabs you. Characters are real and you experience all the emotions . Can't wait for any continuations.

Action, suspense, characters and romance. Those are the four elements needed in creating a good romantic suspense story. It’s how you mix them together that will determine if it will be a just good or a great story. Personally, I feel author Lisa Marie Rice has done a great job I Dream of Danger. I am not a big fan of military men in my romances. I know how can I not like a man in a uniform. It is not the uniform but all the predictable things that go with it. Guns, work, blah, blah, blah. Yes, there were some of these elements but they are presented in a way that they did not over-shadow the story. Although I must say, as a geek, all the techno futuristic stuff I found very cool. What I liked about it was that it wasn’t so way off in the future that the technology was too difficult to wrap your brain around. The action scenes are also written well enough that I wasn’t bogged down (Read: Bored) with the military verbiage. The characters, both main and secondary, are some of my favorites! Nick is tough, and raw and yet because of his abusive background, so fragile. Easily Elle is my favorite. Her complete 180 from treasured only child, to broken lost everything, to this strong intelligent woman. I love to see a character develop into her empowerment. The romance and sex between them is romantic and arousing. The secondary characters were amazing. No fillers here! They played such a great part I would love to see them all get their own stories. This is actually my first book by author Lisa Marie Rice and I got to say, I’m really liking her. Frankly, I didn’t know this was a series right away this book worked very well until the very end when there is of course a cliffhanger. Now knowing there is a book 1, I plan to read it ASAP. Between the edge of your seat action, the romance between Elle and Nick and the fascinating cliffhanger, I Dream of Danger is definitely a book (and series) worth the read. I cannot wait to see what happens next! I received this book from JeepDiva for the express purposes of an honest review. The opinions and rating of this review are solely mine and in no way was I compensated. Stars – 4 Flames - 3

I am enjoying this latest series! I realize everyone is entitled to their opinions and no author is able to please everyone, every time. In fact, if I had to rate which of Rice's series I like the best I would still go with the Midnight series....probably my all-time favorite. However, when I read some of these reviews, I had to respond and provide some encouragement to this long time author. As a long time fan, I appreciate the author writing a new series that takes on some totally new and different ideas than her previous works. I found the whole premise of this series to be facinating and have thoroughly enjoyed reading both books so far. The third cannot come soon enough for me! I won't write a synopsis of the storyline, but I have found all of the characters very likeable and am anxious to see how the next novel will end up......it would seem like an idea that could go beyond just the three planned. Keep up the great work....this author has many fans and should not be intimidated by some of the other reviews here. For the record, I thought the world-building was thoroughly enjoyable and the characters more than likable!

A letdown after the first book in the series. Definitely had potential but fell short because of the backstory being repeated. Hopefully Ms. Rice will get the series back on track.

Great addition to this new series. A lot of background building since it is set a bit in the future which has been altered by government extremism. However, I like the way she dives right in with the main characters and doesn't miss a beat. Can't wait for the next one.
