The 48-year-old church volunteer was born and raised in Blackburn, Scotland and lives at home with her cat Pebbles. Susan has been singing since she was 12 years old and, before her appearance on Britain's Got Talent, regularly attended her local church to help out however she could. Needless to say, Susan's life has changed dramatically since the famed performance seen and heard around the world!

Her debut album, I Dreamed a Dream, features the stirring Les Miserables song that launched her meteoric career, as well as other pop favorites. From the Label

Editorial Reviews

New York Times - Stephen Holden
In the most striking cut Ms. Boyle turns the Rolling Stones’ “Wild Horses” into a starkly beautiful declaration of tenacity and resolution. Her “Cry Me a River,” the least vengeful version I’ve heard, makes this gloating crow of emotional payback a reflection on cosmic balance.
Baltimore Sun - Sam Sessa
The song selection ("Daydream Believer," "Who I Was Born to Be," "Proud") suits Boyle's meteoric rise. And the sparse, simple production suits Boyle's classic-sounding voice.... The title track, which was the first number she sang on "Britain's Got Talent," still sends shivers down my spine.... I've never heard anyone do it better.
Blogcritics - Jaimie Krycho
I Dreamed a Dream — and Susan Boyle — is a definite keeper. The singer has already made an emotional connection with her audience that is invaluable to the effect of her album. Reflective and poignant, I Dreamed a Dream will please a wide range of listeners with Boyle’s undeniably beautiful voice accompanied by a message that her voice breathes life into.

Susan has a voice to wring emotions from the most hardened heart. Her version of "Cry Me A River" is outstanding. I've never heard better in my 74 years on this earth.

Considering her limited professional training and performance experience, I continue to be amazed at Ms. Boyle's abilities. My favorite track on this album is "Cry Me a River".

I heard her sing Cry Me A River on a Cd many years ago from England which had several unknown artists on it...I was always amazed that it didn't become popular here. When I heard her on British Idol, I just knew it was the same person. I am very happy the CD is coming out 11/24..I truly believe it will be a great success.

She is at her top performance. Just listening to her is an experience unto itself. The selection of songs is a wide range from I dreamed a dream to silent night, but it is all so wonderful. My heart swell with pride for her.

Amazing voice, great choice of songs! Like most other people, I bought this based on her rendition of "I Dreamed A Dream" - I hadn't heard her sing anything else, but at $9.99 what's to lose? Well, she did not let me down. Susan's version of "Who I Was Born to Be" is so uplifting, so powerful that it's become my favorite song. When's her next CD coming out??

For the millions who have watched her you tube audition, this album is a gift. Susan's range in amazing, her selections interesting, and her voice a treasure. Can't wait for the next album!

The songs on this CD are like listening to a lounge singer. Very soothing and contemplative. I've played this CD on my computer over and over. I purchased 3 copies and will give two as presents.

I just received Susan Boyle's debut album and I am listening to it for the third time through. Ms. Boyle has a very good voice, a pleasure to listen to. She hits her notes perfectly with warmth and emotion, tells the story instead of just singing a song. I especially like her rendition of Wild Horses. Never used to like that song, but she's made it her own, slowed it down and added a touch of jazz. The arrangement is just lovely. Her voice is strong and whether she whispers or belts it, she's in control. Others have said the music choices are too ecclectic, but I think they are just right -- maybe a holiday song should not have been tacked on but so what? It coincides with the release date. My belief is that she chose exactly what she likes to sing, so this collection perfectly reflects her talents and personality. Can't wait for her next album.

I've lost hope for beautiful music - sickened by the flow of repetitious, misogynist, obscene, violent cacophony of noise being called 'music' - and long ago gave up purchasing CDs. And suddenly there is Susan and I have played it over and over ever since receiving it - reveling in the range of beautiful sound this wonderful woman produces!! How soon can we get the next one? .... and the next....

I agree with the above reviewers with regard to song choice, presentation, etc., and it is easy, pleasant listening. My disappointment is with the fact that the instrumentation is so loud and sometimes covers up her singing. Is it my CD or is the music so loud on all? I would like it to be in the background more so that I could hear her singing as the main feature.

when I saw this woman walk out on stage that night the panel of judges was prepared to make fun of her....roll their eyes and snicker. Then she opened her mouth and sang like an angel. I enjoyed all the tracks, and it just seems so utterly cool that this woman has finally made it. I went back to listen to the Stones do Wild Horses and realized why I didn't remember that song!!! Her version is certainly a love song.

She can sing - forcefully and sweetly. Loud, soft, sincerely. An inspiring CD for any singer with a dream.

Bought this CD the week it came out and was not disappointed. I listened to it 3 times the first evening. Susan knows how to interpret the lyrics she is singing and bring emotion to the song. I look forward to her next CD. She showed the world that you should not pre-judge.

I would rate this CD as one of the best that I have heard in long time, she has the ability to draw you into her songs when she sings. I think that people who helped bring this CD to the public should be applauded also for bringing so much talent to the public

My Lord in Heaven. Where has she been all these years. A grand lady and her voice gives me goose bumps. Simon Cowal certainly got lucky with her too. I wish Susan nothing but the best for the remainder of her life. She has one of the most magnificient voices I have ever heard.

I have enjoyed this CD. Susan brings a maturity of experience to her singing that I have found astounding, given her background. Arrangements are excellent.
