written in diary format the book could well be written by a pilot from almost any country, it deals with heinz early life prior to military service, his formulating years in the luftwaffe, his career and impressions of wartime luftwaffe heirarchy, finally retirement. throughout the book one is in constant touch with the activities, war situation and emotion as experienced by the squadron. a throughly enjoyable book
