Dr. Hook's 1970s brand of country-flavored pop
ock was always at its best with a satirical edge, usually supplied by the songwriting talents of humorist and Playboy cartoonist Shel Silverstein. Raven Records, an Australian reissue label, has assembled a generous, 23-track, single-disc anthology of Dr. Hook's Silverstein canon, and in truth, it makes a better Dr. Hook best-of set than the official best-of collections on the market.
