Overview

Cheryl Bradshaw is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author for this series.

...

No one knows the value of keeping a secret more than former high school prom king Doug Ward. But after washing the past twenty years down with a smooth glass of whisky, Doug's steely resolve has started to crack. And he doesn't want to keep quiet--not anymore.

For Private Investigator Sloane Monroe, her high school reunion cruise has been nothing more than a mundane reminder of why she hasn't returned to her hometown after all these years. Not much has changed, until Doug Ward goes missing. When dried blood is found on the deck where Doug was last seen, Sloane finesses her way into the surveillance room. There, on a small screen in black and white, she sees an image she'll never forget: Doug being stabbed repeatedly, then heaved over the railing of the cruise ship, his body plunging into the icy depths below.

The reunion cruise ends, but before Sloane can book a plane ride to her past, another former classmate is murdered. In a town where it seems everyone is harboring a secret, how many more will die before Sloane uncovers the biggest secret of all?

Editorial Reviews

Amazon - Christopher Blewitt, Author
I Have a Secret is the third mystery in Bradshaw's Sloane Monroe series that had me up all night reading. Monroe once again follows the clues as a private eye in her hometown during a class reunion. From the opening murder scene, to the surprising conclusion, Bradshaw details a good storyline and an even better mystery. Great character development and excellent plot movement made this a page-turning novel that left me wanting more from this character and I look forward to the next book.

I downloaded I Have A Secret as I was looking for a different read from the norm and I wasn't disappointed. I can officially declare that I am now a Cheryl Bradshaw fan and look forward to reading the other books in the series over the summer. They're ideal beach reads, although I'll be reading them under the shade of an apple tree in my orchard. Full of twists and turns and a highly recommended read.
Amazon - Julia Crane, Author
Bradshaw has done it again. Quick paced read with lots of twist and turns. I couldn't book the book down, and look forward to reading the next in the Sloane Monroe series.

I've read all three novels in the Sloane Monroe series, and each one keeps getting better! With this one, the main sleuth, Sloane Monroe, finds herself in California which is a refreshing change of scenery. I liked the twist on the story which made it feel like there was a story within the main story, it led to a lot of unforseen twists and turns. This aspect is part of what held my interest, and I always love a book where I can't figure out the "whodunnit" part until I get to the end. It's both serious and entertaining at the same time. The characters are interesting and layered. Great read.

For the person who left review that started "Sorry to intrude"...I've never seen a review where someone critizied grammatical errors!! Wow!! Reviewing a book should be about the theme and story line and whether the writer keeps the reader entertained. Can't believe you felt so turned off on the book by grammatical errors that "led me to put it down."  You're being totally unfair to the author!

    Nice Series

This is the second book I've read in this series. Although not an absolute fave that I want to keep following, the books so far have been interesting and a pleasant read.

I am such a fan of Cheryl Bradshaw that I went back and purchased one of her earlier books with Sloane Monroe. I simply love the character and admire her perseverance through all the adversity she has endured. She is a true heroine and thanks to Cheryl, we can all enjoy each of her experiences and challenges. Keep 'em coming, Cheryl.

I zipped thru this book in only two sittings it was so hard to put down. Author Cheryl Bradshaw just keeps getting better and better; this is certainly the best book in the series so far. It had plenty of surprises and kept me guessing right up to the end. The main character, Sloane Monroe, has been well developed, as are the other major players, and she is likable and very entertaining. I really enjoyed the humor the author injected thru out the story as well. May the next Sloane adventure be not too far away!

Sorry to intrude on the parade of accolades, but, although I was rather enjoying the read, two examples of truly awful illiteracy in just a few pages led me to put the book down and switch my attention to another instead. The first was the use of "lied" as the past tense of "lie," when the reference was to a person lying down rather than telling an untruth. The second was even worse: "I'd done the math in my head and figured out that their daughter had to of been born right after they graduated high school--an obvious reason to get married." Actually, I object to the use of the phrase "they graduated high school...," preferring "graduated from high school." (The high school graduates you--not the other way.) But "had to of been born" just did it for me! Whichever it was who was responsible for the two egregious errors I cited--author or editor--it was just too distracting for me to continue.
