[Review of earlier edition:] Preschoolers who are in the throes of toilet training, or who have just attained this milestone, will appreciate Andrew's predicament and Munsch's gentle exaggeration.
School Library Journal
PreS-K Andrew's mother and father are careful to ask him beforehand, ``Andrew, do you have to go pee?'' Andrew always answers, ``No, no, no.'' Any parent can guess the rest. As soon as he's firmly belted in the car or immobilized in a snowsuit , Andrew bellows ``I have to go!'' His family is annoyed, but kind, about the inconvenience, and Andrew surprises everyone by getting up at night to go to the bathroom with grandpa and not wetting his bed again that evening. The cartoon characters are expressive and nice. A potty-trained child from three to five will enjoy the humor in this preschool vignette, but like a family photo album, this subject has limited appeal. This is an attractive, well-designed, sturdy package, but an ever-so-additional choice. Anna Biagioni Hart, Sherwood Public Library, Alexandria, Va.

I always laugh when I read Robert Munsch’s book I have to Go. It is about a little boy name Andrew and how he have to go to the bathroom at very inconvenient times. Andrew's mother and father always ask very clearly if Andrew needs to go pee, and his answer is always, "No, no, no, no." Unfortunately, that answer never seems to last long! Despite all the anxious preparations and inquiries of his parents, little Andrew maintains his own individual sense of timing and appropriateness. Students of all ages will appreciate Andrew's predicament about having to go to the bathroom when it is not convenient. This is great book to use in a younger classroom.

Robert Munsch has done an amazing job recreating a book from most people's younger years when that oh so famous saying says, "I HAVE TO GO PEE!" This book has both myself and my students laughing out loud and allows for great conversation. Thank you Robert for another FABULOUS book!

This book was great! I teach Kindergarten and it is my most requested book to read. The kids always want me to read it more than once at a sitting. They love to 'read' it with me.

This books was great. Munsch did another awesome job of making normal life hysterical. It was like reading my daughter's life back to her. The repeated 'no,no,no' response from Andrew is easy for kids to pick up and 'read' along. It's scary how true this story is. Every parents has lived this nightmare. It's funny when it's not happening to you
