A heartbreaking yet inspiring story about Barbara, a schoolgirl who has trouble letting anyone get close to her and who is certainly battling some monsters. The question is, where do they come from and why? This undeniably universal story explores the power we all possess to open up to others and vanquish our demons, by understanding and coming to terms with them.

Critics give it two GIANT thumbs up! =]

When I first heard about I Kill Giants, I was immidiately interested in it just by hearing its name. It was recommended to me online in a comic book forum. I didn't know anything about the story when I bought it, so really I didn't know what to expect. I must say I was pleasantly surprised.

The first thing you will notice about I Kill Giants is the artwork. The cover artwork is just a sample of Ken Nimura's fine work. Nimura's art style is rather unique and really gives the story life.

The story of I Kill Giants is the heart warming tale of a 5th grade girl named Barbara Thorson who just so happens to be a bit of a social outcast. She has a few friends she plays "Dungeons and Dragons" with, but other than that she's a bit of a loner. She's also quite spunky as shown by her interactions with her teachers and bullies. On top of all this she goes around claiming she kills giants.

Joe Kelly wrote the story in such a way that you really can't predict what is going to happen in the end of the book unless you've read it before. For that reason I'm not going to give away any more plot details. What I will say though is that it almost feels like something to come out of a film by Disney.... with more attitude. If you're a fan of comics or graphic novels such as the Scott Pilgrim series then I encourage you to purchase this book. I can confidently say you will enjoy it and most likely want to share it with you friends.
