Overview

Violet Redmond's family and fortune might be formidable and her beauty and wit matchless—but her infamous flare for mischief keeps all but the most lionhearted suitors at bay. Only Violet knows what will assuage her restlessness: a man who doesn't bore her to tears, and a clue to the fate of her missing brother. She never dreamed she'd find both with a man whose own pedigree is far from impeccable.

"Savage" is what the women of the ton whisper about the newly styled Earl of Ardmay—albeit with shivers of pleasure. Born an English bastard, raised on the high seas, he's on a mission to capture a notorious pirate for vengeance. But while Violet's belief in her brother's innocence maddens him, her courage awes him . . . and her sensuality finally undoes him. Now the man who once lost everything and the girl who has everything to lose are bound by a passion that could either end in betrayal . . . or become everything they ever dreamed.

Violet Redmond had been humored for so long by her family, especially by her brothers, that she considers her bored yet intemperate behavior to be acceptable. Her elder brother Lyon had disappeared from their midst a year ago, something to do with that awful Olivia Eversea. Violet overhears sea captain Asher Flint, the newly minted Earl of Ardmay, discussing his search for a pirate called Le Chat and decides the miscreant is her missing sibling (Lyon = lion = big cat). She impetuously stows away on Flint's ship, and when he discovers his surprise "guest," Flint thinks the unbridled Lady Violet needs disciplining. Or does he find her determination and constancy regarding her brother's innocence more appealing than annoying?Verdict The talented Long (Like No Other Lover) adds to her Redmond/Eversea series with this lushly written story of two strong, steadfast individuals in opposition as they navigate rough waters to finding the truth yet hesitant to acknowledge its repercussions. Long's sumptuous language reveals her protagonists as flawed yet resolute and finally more than open to passion and love. Exquisite for romance fans. One caveat: the quality of the proofreading in this finished edition is well below par; Long and her readers deserve better. [Ebook ISBN 978-0-06-200018-7.]—Bette-Lee Fox, Library Journal

This author certainly has a way of having the chemistry between the two main characters leap off the page at you. Proving that the seduction could b just as much fun as the prize. I could feel the sexual tension oozing off the pages and it made for an exciting and beautiful romance. The Pennyroyal Green series in one of my favorites in this genre, but this one book could very well be my favorite. I recommend this book to anyone who loves reading about earls and dukes and the ton and encourage all to read the series, but if you are not inclined to do so this book can be read as a stand alone as well. 318 pages on my Nook

The only thing that would make this book better is if it would keep going! You become connected to the characters and want them both to win. I enjoyed it so much I had to read it twice! It is still on the home page of my nook so I can keep going back without having to look for it.

This doesn't have the lightness and humor I liked in many of the author's previous works but it's still pretty good. Good characters, good conflict, good premise but something was missing for me. If you haven't read this author before, go have a look at her first few novels---they are excellent!

I love the titles Julie Anne Long creates. I expect to see something like "Baron all for love" next.

Very refreshing characters. I'm glad the main female character is not useless like in so many other novels.

I just enjoyed reading this from start to finish. I liked both the hero and heroine. There was adventure and romance and a happy ending what more could I ask for. I will put this one on my re read list. This author sure knows how to create a sizzling couple. Their chemistry was off the chain. I definately think this was the best in this pennyroyal series.

This was just an average read. Not all of the story was realistic. It is unlikely that you could have such and adventure and your family believed you were attending a house party. The earl and Lavay are interesting characters.

*Outstanding characterizations.. It is so easy to get a mental landscape of this story, as if you are already there...

Well I finished Julie Ann Long's I KISSED AN EARL and I enjoyed it. She does describe things in great detail and sometimes it lose me in information. Violet is a feisty, stubborn, trouble making and doesn't look before you jump woman who loves people with all her heart, mind and soul. Flint aka Savage is a breed of man I love to read about. He comes from nothing and tries to makes himself be the best man he can. He is hard headed, commanding, stubborn, takes no lip, stern and loves to collect "down on your luck" people. Two stubborn people like Violet and Flint are like oil and water. But what makes oil and water mix is shaking them up and what better way to shake things up is on a long voyage on THE FORTUNA, Flint's ship. I have tried to read the first 2 Pennyroyal Green novels but don't like them but I am now a Julie Ann Long fan. I can't wait to read her next book, WHAT I DID FOR A DUKE. I give this book 3 fingers up and 7 toes.

I simply loved the slower build up between the two characters. The banter and wity remarks were perfect, especially the main heroine, who was truly intellegent and held her own. The progression in there reletionship was very nicely paced and made the book highly worth it. My only complain, which is small, is the ending was a bit flat in comparison to the rest of my read. The last 10 pages seemed odd and a bit rushed but not terrible.
