Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Joella Peterson
This book is another in the "Kids Have Troubles Too" series. The fictional story at the beginning of this book talks about Celeste and Whitney who are going to visit their dad. Instead of just being another visit with one of their divorced parents, it turns out that their dad tells them that, "There is somebody I want you to meet." When their dad later tells them that he is going to get married, Celeste and Whitney know that there now will be no possibility of their parents ever getting remarried. While the story is helpful to kids who deal with divorce and remarriage, it is very text heavy and has only a few illustrations scattered throughout. Children will need to be particularly interested in the story in order to not be detoured by the large amount of text. In addition to additional facts, definitions, and how to cope with new family situations, the second half of the book has further information, an index, questions to think about and discuss, and a couple of Internet resources.
