Writing a Review - A First for Me

'I Love the Alphabet' is the only book I have ever picked up for my 3 year old at the library, and then ran straight to the book store to purchase because we both loved it so much. A year later, we still read it a few times a week. My daughter loves the artwork and has every word memorized. Her favorite part is finding the little ladybugs on the pages. She won't let me turn a page without finding her ladybug. If you are looking for a very nice baby or toddler gift, I highly recommend the beautiful 'I Love the Alphabet'.

    Extraordinary illustrations make learning fun

It's no wonder this book was chosen as a finalist for the 2005 Benjamin Franklin Award: Children's Picture Book Category! Collage artist Dar Hosta fills each page of her book with whimsical concoctions of colorful animals and inventive backgrounds. She uses alliteration to reinforce each letter; 'acrobatic alligators,' 'yodeling yaks' and 'jaguars in jammies' are just some of her endearing characters. This is a picture book that children will undoubtedly love to pore over and have read to them again and again. There's the hauntingly beautiful illustration of the mythical unicorn, and 'slinky, slithering snakes ... swinging from the stars.' Those who enjoy 'Alphabet' might also enjoy another children's picture book entitled 'Ruby Lee the Bumble Bee: A Bee's Bit of Wisdom' - also a Benjamin Franklin Award Finalist for the Bill Fisher Prize for Best First Book in Children's Category. The Benjamin Franklin awards are named in honor of America's most cherished printer/publisher and recognize excellence in independent publishing.
