Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
It is a trifecta! Young children will have an opportunity to learn English, French and Spanish in this board book. There are a dozen words all related to eating. The cover shows a toddler with a bottle that has a plastic textured surface. Each page offers something to touch—the wooden surface of a high chair, the terrycloth bib (le bavoir/el babero), a cereal bowl and the words for cereal and bowl in the three languages. Most of the items to touch have a slick plastic feel, so there really is not a large variety of textures. The word choices are appropriate and families who speak any of the three languages will certainly enjoy this offering. The strong board book pages will hold up to multiple reads. Readers should also check out the author/illustrator's similar board book, I Love to Sleep! Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot
