No matter what else was going on in his life or where he was--travelling to make movies for G.E., in the California governor's office, at the White House, or on Air Force One, and sometimes even from across the room--Ronald Reagan wrote letters to Nancy Reagan, to express his love, thoughts, and feelings, and to stay in touch. Through letters and reflections, the characters, personalities, and private lives of a president and his first lady are revealed. Nancy Reagan comments on the letters and writes with love and insight about her husband and the many phases of their life together.
About the Authors:
Ronald and Nancy Reagan were America's president and first lady from 1981 to 1989.
Nancy Reagan was born in New York, was raised in Chicago, and attended Smith College. During the summers before graduation, she worked in summer-stock theater productions. In New York, she appeared on Broadway, including in Lute Song with Mary Martin. She was signed by MGM, and she made eight motion pictures for the studio before leaving to marry Ronald Reagan. She is the author of a memoir, My Turn.
Dear St. Valentine,
I'm writing to you about a beautiful young lady who has been in this household for 25 years now - come March 4.
I have a request to make of you but before doing so feel you should know more about her. For one thing she has 2 hearts - her own and mine. I'm not complaining. I gave her mine willingingly, and like it right where it is. Her name is Nancy but for some time now I've called her Mommie and don't believe I could change.
My request of you is - could you on this day whisper in her ear that someone loves her ver much and more and more each day? Also tell her, this "Someone" would run down like a dollar clock without her so she must always stay where she is.
Then tell her if she wants to know who that "Someone" is to just turn her head to the left. I'll be across the room waiting to see if you told her. If you'll do this for me, I'll be very happy knowing that she knows I love her with all my heart.
Thank you,
"Someone"

I have always loved and admired President Reagan, and this collection of letters gives a glimpse into his depth of character as a man of love and honor, and allows us to get a sense of his intense love for his wife Nancy. I do not believe it is possible to read this book and not be touched by his sincerity, and sensitivity, or to walk away without a strong love and respect for this great man and great president. The book is very readable. I strongly recommend this book!

'I love you ronnie' is a very special collection that first lady nancy reagan put together of her years with ronald reagan from his being sworn in as being the governor of california to the president of the us. 90% of these are special and very meaningful love letters and cards between the president and the first lady and the rest of the letters are fasinating corespondence that the great communicator kept with certain world leaders. what makes this book special is the reagans didnt have a computer and wrote daily and didnt have e mails at this time so this makes a very historical document and a real treasure to read and enjoy and get to know the reagans alittle better.

I had this book read in a few hours. Aside from how amazingly romantic and loving he was towards Nancy, it left me with the impression of, this is why he was such a great president. He knew how to be an amazing father and husband first, and Nancy was always first in his life. I dont know if there has ever been a woman more loved by a man that Nancy Reagan, and even looking at her now, she wears that love vibrantly.

I finished reading the book within a couple of hours, can't take myself away from it. The book captures what we are lacking in our society - true love, the bond should be share between husband and wife. I was deeply touched by the words of Reagans, each words are stained by a very strong love and respect for each other

I have purchased 2 copies of this book. I bought the paperback first as a gift for the man in my life. He loves the book and frequently reads to me from it! I then purchased the hardcover addition to have in our libray, since it is one of our favorite reads. Every couple should have it and read it often......TRUE LOVE!

Gosh wasn't it wonderful when we had a 'President and First Lady' representing our country who were/are moral role models for the younger generation??? I want to read the Love Letters Bill wrote Hilary, or would that be Monica Lewinsky? No, Jennifer Flowers, or Barbara Streisand???? This book captures the true essence of the type of people the Reagans are. It reminds us that despite the moral decline of todays society, there is still true/pure love to have faith in. The Reagans is a real love story. Nancys devotion and strength through these past difficult years shines through in this touching tribute to a great man!!!!

Former First Lady, Nancy Reagan, shares the most private thoughts and feelings between her and 'Ronnie'. The reader gets a first hand look at the man Nancy married. His love for his wife, his frustrations at times, and his great sense of humor. I read it all in one sitting......GREAT BOOK!!!

Ronald Reagan has been my hero since the sixth grade. A President who could be respected! When I saw this book I bought it for my mom to read and gave it to her for Christmas. After looking at the forward and crying I bought myself one and read it in two nights. It truly is a love story and allows anyone who reads it to see another side to the man who was so admired. It is nice to know - having read his own words - that the romance we saw everytime they were shown together was real and lasting and not just some staged act. I am very grateful to Mrs. Reagan for allowing those of us who want to know more about the man to read these letters. I know it was a mixture of pleasure and pain for her to write, but as she noted in her forward she wanted everyone to have an opportunity to read these and once they are put in the archives at the Reagan Library very few will get the chance. What a great legacy he leaves. I cried at the beginning, laughed in the middle, and cried at the end. I definitely recommend investing in this book as a keepsake if nothing else.

This book first caught my attention on the shelves of the book store. As I stood there and read a few pages all I could do was laugh and cry. I knew that if a book was poweful enough to make me cry in the middle of the store then I had to have it. I remember Ronald Reagan as President when I was a little girl and when the office of the President meant honor, dignity, and respect, all things that recently we have been severely lacking. This book reminds us that good people do exist and gives us a hope that we too can find the kind of love that Ronald and Nancy shared.

My fellow Y-chromozones: Afraid to bear your soul to that special someone? Scared of showing your true emotions because you're afraid it will emit weakness? Hmmm? Mr. Reagan proved that it takes quite the individual to become the President of the United States of America. It's a one-in-a-million kind of job. And, although his decisions from the oval office were constantly affecting billions of people around the world, his love notes have proven that his heart has always belonged to one. The only one that should matter, his wife. You don't have to read between the lines to understand that if push came to shove, Mr. Reagan was prepared to give up the most powerful position in the world for the love of Nancy at any given moment. Guys,... buy the book, store it in the tool box, cry in the garage if you have to but, for goodness sake's, start loving the 'Mrs.' like Ronnie loved Nancy. Overall picture: It makes for a stronger family unit, better neighborhoods, livable cities and one great nation. A tip of the hat from Texas, Mr. Reagan. God Bless. Oh yeah, by the way, Lee-Ann, I love you and thanks for our beautiful son.

the letters are sincere and show a side of the Reagans that our United States could not have imagined during Reaganomics! He was an inspiration during a hard Cold War! I truly believe that he was the leading factor that helped our economy boost. It is a true shame that he suffers from a disease that cripples the mind and memory. I would like for my children to hear some grandfather stories.

Is it possible for a man to love and adore a woman so deeply that he would bear his soul to her on an occasion? Holding back nothing. What a kind and gentle man. I wish everyone could share that kind of love for another, even if for just a single moment. It would be enough to last a lifetime. I loved it!!!

President Reagan was a man who lived from his heart. Nancy married the man who stood up to the Soviet Union and said NO MORE! Then together off into the sunset they rode, a world owing them a debt it can never repay. Mr. Reagan knew what life is all about, it's about love. Not hate. Please remember that at this time Nancy endures a very painful struggle, the heart she has that belongs to Ronnie...is silent. God please be with her. Let him whisper to her one more time....I love you Nancy

I have an extensive political library which covers every topic from Just war theory, American foreign and domestic policies, Presidential Bio's and Congressional Process but I must say that no library of any kind would be compleat without I love you Ronnie: The Letters of Ronald Reagan to Nancy. Put your politics aside folks this one is a must for historians and romantic Buffs alike. Reagans heart and love for his wife is the real deal. The book gives a human touch to the man most of us saw only in the role of President. His letters show a man who took love and life and commitment both personaly and professionaly very seriously. That Reagan with all sincerity, adored and cherished his wife is evident in every correspondance. Beyond Devotion his letters to his beloved Nancy demonstrate that he possesed a gental humor-usually aimed at himself and a tender appreciation of every moment of life. As a Republican you might expect me to love this book but let me assure you my good friend - (a life long Democrat) read my copy then went out to buy her own...her quote sums it up best...' I wish he were running today...I would vote for him...he won me over with one letter...' A great read and and wonderful testiment in this cynical political age demonstrating that not all politicians are cut from the same cloth.
