"Mama, do you miss me so much that you're coming right home to me, NO MATTER WHAT?"

In this second STINKY FACE title, Mama is away and tells her son that nothing can keep them apart. Through the boy's lively imagination, Mama braves hungry sharks, terrible pirates, spaceships lost in time and much more to assure her son that nothing can keep her from coming home to him.

Editorial Reviews

School Library Journal
PreS-K-In this companion to I Love You, Stinky Face (BridgeWater, 1997), a little boy has some new queries for his mother. Speaking to her by telephone, he wonders when she is coming home and asks a series of questions starting with "...what if the airplane forgets how to fly?" His mother responds to each worry with a Runaway Bunny-like solution, pledging to "...hop in the basket of a hot-air balloon," "...find the speediest shark in the ocean," or "...hitch a ride on...[a] supersonic spaceship..."-all in an effort to get back to her son. Moore's detailed, full-color drawings include such exotic locales as a lush jungle, a medieval castle, and the gangplank of a pirate ship. The amusing illustrations in muted, dreamy shades spill out over the pages, reflecting the free associations of the text. Although the formula is familiar, the message is reassuring and could be used to prepare children for times when a parent is away from home.-Linda Ludke, London Public Library, Ontario, Canada Copyright 1999 Cahners Business Information.

As a traveling Mom, the perfect book to show my four year old that I will let nothing stop me from getting home to see her.

I love this book. I work at a bookstore and I read it over and over - and I don't even have children of my own. It's perfectly sweet and fun, but it doesn't ignore the gravity of the situation: parent and child are separated. All of the Stinky Face books are wonderful, but this one is my favorite. Check it out and find out what one determined mom will whisper into the ear of a magic dragon or racing cheetah or a crew of unhappy pirates...just to get back to her boy.
