Overview

In his book I Never Knew That About Colorado, author and historian Abbott Fay presents a unique compilation of long-forgotten and little-publicized happenings of Colorado history. While this book is not essentially a book of trivia, some of the items might be considered trivial. Unless an item is described as questionable, it is the result of cross-documentation that indicates it really happened beyond a reasonable doubt. This book is great fun as the reader browses the fringe of Colorado history.

I didn¿t know that about Colorado, by Abbott Fay, is a very interesting book. I really enjoyed how all the stories were short and simple. In other words it¿s a really good bathroom book. The only thing I didn¿t like about the book was some of the stories weren¿t that interesting to me but that doesn¿t mean you wouldn¿t like them. Anyone who enjoys learning interesting facts about history would enjoy this too. It¿s a good book so check it out if your interested in history.

I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn something new about Colorado or just wants to read a few interesting short stories instead of an entire book. Every story only takes up about 1-2 pages and none are the same. There are a stories about ducks falling from the sky on I-70, about Hitler owning a Colorado ranch, about how Hershey first conceived his world famous chocolate in Denver, and even one of how our state got its state bird. These stories are perfect for when you only have a little time to read or just want to get a little unusual trivia about Colorado. There are a few boring stories along with the interesting ones, so I¿d give this book a 7/10 on the interest scale, but it provides information that most people, even those who have lived in Colorado all their lives, don¿t know. This book is more for the older generations, just because it is a little to informative to hold the attentions of younger readers.
