GREAT BOOK!

This bilingual book tells about the Day of the Dead, a time to remember loved ones who have died.
The illustrations are lovely. The words are simple, easy to read, and the story is heart-felt.
It is very moving!
I came across it in a college class. A professor of Bilingual Education and Literacy presented it as an EXCELLENT LEARNING TOOL for parents, teachers and librarians... and of course, for children, too!
The book contains CRAFTS and RECIPES - these are lots of fun and reinforce the book's contents.
The author has also included educational notes about the holiday,as well as a Spanish glossary.
This is a GREAT SHARING BOOK... leading to questions about love, multiculturalism, and Mexico.
I have since bought several copies; one for a child who lost his grandfather and another for an adult whose aunt had passed on.
The author of this book has also written another bilingual book on this topic: "The Spirit of Tio Fernando: A Day of the Dead Story." If you google this, many sites come up. When I checked her website, I saw that she'd also written a book about bullying, which I had already read and enjoyed.
She also wrote "Celebrate! It's Cinco de Mayo," which was beautifully illustrated by Loretta Lopez, too.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this book!
