Overview

Have you ever experienced a boss that was ushered into a leadership position as a shining star - but in time, left you wondering how a person of such bad character or behavior could actually have been placed in a management or mentoring role? Corporate America is being preyed upon by Pseudopaths - a minimally studied and poorly understood type of very bad boss. The Pseudopath is a sub-clinical variant of a functioning Sociopath or Psychopath. Pseudopaths are opportunistic with their behavioral disorder, venturing into pathic wrongdoing when placed into a position of authority or dominance over others. Because they have honed their skills of deception and manipulation over a lifetime of practice, they shine on paper and in the interview room - and easily evade traditional pre-employment checks. Pseudopaths are capable of destroying a workforce and dropping a business to its knees. Dr. Allen is a leading authority on Pseudopaths. His book spotlights occupational Pseudopaths and exposes the futility of attempting to smoke them out with customary screens and character profiling tests. But he won't leave you hanging. Dr. Allen's book includes a methodology and partner algorithm for identifying Pseudopaths within any job candidacy pool. Did you know that 1 and 3 leadership-level job applicants in corporate America is a Pseudopath?

Meet the Author

Dr. Bob was born to a Spanish, Chinese, Filipino mother and an English, Scottish, Dutch father. He thinks that's why he's so mixed up. He remembers always wanting to work in a technical field, even as a young child. He wonders if it's because his mother and father were skilled technicians in the iron and steel industry. As he jokingly recalls, "My mother would iron and my father would steal." He tried light-hearted writing for a while, but it was more difficult than it was funny. So he switched to nuclear engineering. He is a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, and has worked in corporate America for a few decades. His degrees include a Masters in Information Systems and a Doctorate in Organizational Leadership. He is a Pepperdine alumnus. Dr. Bob lives in Dana Point, California with his wife and best friend, Tracey.
