Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Myrna Dee Marler
This is the story of a boy and his pet fly. The fly lives in a garbage can with a whole bunch of other flies and likes to play hide and seek with the boy Buzz. Wherever Buzz hides, the fly eventually finds his way in. Nevertheless, one day the boy and the fly get separated when the garbageman arrives unexpectedly and takes the fly with the garbage to the dump. Buzz, not to be deterred, gets his (very accommodating) father to take him to the garbage dump where he searches and searches until the true fly makes himself known to the ecstatic Buzz. It's not quite certain what the value of this story is other than it's easy to read. On the other hand, it might encourage young children to play with flies and garbage cans. Adults reading it to children might find it kind of . . . well, disgusting. The pictures are cute if you like pictures of flies and garbage cans. Reviewer: Myrna Dee Marler

PreS-Gr 2—Fly Guy and Buzz are back in this outrageously funny adventure told in three simple chapters. Fly Guy's propensity to hide in a garbage can when he and Buzz play hide-and-seek results in disaster. Fly Guy is carted off to the dump, and when the boy tries to find him, he is faced with a multitude of flies that look, act, and sound exactly like his pal. And every one of those flies can call his name—Buzz! Fortunately, the one and only Fly Guy thinks they are still playing the game. He has been hanging upside down from the visor of Buzz's cap, as close as any good friend can get. There's no mistaking Arnold's hilarious cartoon illustrations, and in this new addition to a popular series, there are plenty of them to enjoy.—Gloria Koster, West School, New Canaan, CT

Colorful book cover - eye catcher.

Use was for my 4-yr old granddaughter. She enjoyed the content, and has asked for the other books of the "I Spy" line.

Perfect for a 7 year old boy!

The Fly Guy series is a hit for 6 to 8 yr old boys. They can read it themselves, it's gross, and perfectly funny to them. Not really an adult book, but that's not the market, is it? My son looooves the series!
