Overview

Deborah Ousley Kadair makes it simple and fun to learn the symbols of the Lone Star State in this classic children's guessing game with a Texan twist. Collages of the sky decorate each page, inviting children to guess which symbol can be found in the shape of the cloud. Catchy rhymes provide clues about the hidden objects, encouraging young readers to play along.

This entertaining what-am-I game educates and entertains as children discover fun facts about their state. Children are introduced to the state bird, the mockingbird, which was chosen because of its unique call. The flying mammal is the Mexican free-tailed bat, and the largest colony of this nighttime creature lives beneath the Congress Avenue Bridge in Austin, Texas. Kadair even describes the Lone Star, the great symbol of Texas, which has been used on state flags since the 1830s. Presenting interesting facts on all of the featured state symbols, "I Spy in the Texas Sky" is a perfect way to learn about Texas.
