Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
Those familiar with the "I Spy" series will not be surprised. The simple text asks kids to find various items in the interesting and intricate layouts that Wick has created and then photographed. Since this is a board book, the items kids are seeking are displayed on the page opposite the photograph. That makes it easier for them to move to the adjoining page and find the objects noted. The rhythm of the text is pleasant enough, but it does not seem to have a real story just a litany of items for kids to name and find. At the end of the book they are encouraged to go back and see what else they can find in the pictures. It would be a good exercise for caregivers and children to help expand vocabularies and have fun doing it. Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot
