Children's Literature - Debra Lampert-Rudman
Each member of the "I Spy" series can be described simply as a book that is a game and a game that is a book. Each two-page spread gives readers a simple rhyme and asks that they study side-by-side photographs and identify the differences between them. For children who are interested in hockey, this book will be a great deal of fun. Some of the pages have as many as thirty-six differences to locate. Each spread has a "photo fact" about the depicted photo. For example, an intricate photo of a variety of hockey equipment has a photo fact about the history of hockey and the fact that "helmets are a relatively new development. It was not common for forwards and defensemen to wear helmets until the 1970s." Zambonis, sticks, signals, memorabilia, and uniforms are just some of the objects populating the delightful photos that fill this book. It is part of the "I Spy" Series.
