Chet is a hometown hero after he sees a great white shark in the water and warns the people of his town. In this historical fiction schoolastic book, you will read about a young boy who is brave enough to rescue his friend in a life-or-death situation, even if it means injury to himself. Ages 9 to 12 would love this book. It's short, and I read it in an hour. Hope everyone loves this book! If you do like it, check out the other I Survived books.

This book was good even though it was short. The shark attacks and descriptions are pretty gorey, but they aren't awful. I would recamend this book to people who like shark attacks, suspense, blood, or gore

Several years ago I read Close to Shore, a non-fiction account of the shark attacks of 1916, an event which did much to inspire Peter Benchley's Jaws. This book in the I Survived series recounts the events in a kid-friendly way that might inspire young readers to look at history in a new way. We know considerably more about sharks now, but it may well be mind-boggling to the intended 9-12 year old audience to think of a time when sharks were thought of as harmless. Entertaining and exciting especially as a vacation read before visiting one of the big aquariums...or the beach!

I thought that the book was very exciting and intreging. Although it may have been short, it always kept me on the edge of my chair! I also want to compliment the author on her descriptive language. I could really picture everything as it was happening.

My eight year old son who is not a reader, but I am trying to get him to be, tore through this book and extremely enjoyed it. As a parent I read the book as well and although it was a good read I found it a bit scary. I do definilty recommend it to any age group.

The second book in this exhilerating series enters the life of a new 10 year-old Chet who takes place just a few years before the first book. When Chet is swimming in the lake, a shark comes. What happens? You will just have to "survive" to find out!
