I wont bore you with the details, but i will say this is in my top 5 favorite books of all time. I have read it a dozen times and it is always a great read, I never tire of it! Put down your teeny angsty vampire book and read this one, you wont regret it.

Michael Romkey delivers a vivid and thought provoking novel. The combination of: excellent character construction smooth flowing plot and the insertion of many quotes from literature makes this a great read.

Actually, I am quite pleased with this vampire book. Michael Romkey was able to put together characters (e.g. Jack the Ripper, Tatiana Nicholeiva Romanov, Mozart, and Cesare Borgia) without making the story be ridiculous or too fake. Everything was well written and beautifully put together. Unlike many cheesy vampire novels, this one is a great read. I highly recommended this book for any true vampire lover.

The fight between good and evil. An old story, yet Michael Romkey makes it new, romantic, and exciting all at the same time. This action packed, fast paced story of David's Parkers initiation in the world of the vampires, his unexpected thrust into the battle between good and evil, blew me away. I'm an avid reader of Anne Rice, and this novel ranks up there with the best. There was not one boring moment that I had to push through to understand what was going on. A must read for any Vampire lover.

I enjoyed this book, it took me on a journey that I never wanted to end. I have'nt read a book from start to finish since I was a kid, and that was Star Wars. Write more Michael!!!

After reading many reviews I decided to read this book. I found it to be very slow. The book was not exciting, put it down often for days and could not wait to finish it just to get it over with. It did have some gruesome parts dealing with the vampire Jack the Ripper. Those pages will get your attention and just may give you nightmares as it did with me. Overall not a very good book.

I got about a third of the way through and couldn't read anymore. It was all talk and very little action. David is too much of a goody goody little sissy vampire. Vampires are supposed to be evil killers. I'll take salems lot over this any day.

I liked this book, but not as much as I wanted to. I followed the story to the climax, but was overwhelmed by the characters (good AND bad) and the myriad story lines. By the end I just wanted to finish, having lost any sense of caring what would happen to the main characters. Now don't get me wrong. I did enjoy the book for the most part and was really interested in the vampire 'coming of age' process. There were some incredible sections of the book that just flew by. I also felt however, that the author kept adding characters and plots to what would have been a great read if left to complete the story with just the main characters. I WILL recommend this to others seeking intriguing vampire fiction. I will also seek the authors other works. He has a unique voice that I want to read more of.

This is an old, but great book! I have read just about every vampire book there is- except for the romance vamp books. This is by far one of the top 3! I read it a couple years after it came out- when Anne Rice was still writing amazing stories of vamps, and I have never forgotten how great it is. I amactually breaking it out to read agaion. Highly recommended!

I have read my fare share of (suject) 'Vampire Books' over the course of many years and I can tell you that this one is one of the BEST I have ever read. It is now 2006 and I probably read this one shortly after it came out. It is still THEE one I recommend the most...actually the only one I recommend to friends that are interested in Vampire novels. I promise you.......this is one you will remember...even if you are a voracious book reader like me.

this is one of the greatest books i have ever read, and i've read alot of books! this book has definitely been bumped to the top of my 'all time favourite' list. i cant wait to read some more of michael romkey. P.S.--anne rice is a lovely writer, and i respect her work, but she drones in too deep into insignificant deatails.

i've read many vampire books, i'm even starting a collection, but i've seldom read a work such as michael romkeys 'I, vampire' It literally put me on the edge of my seat, and anticipating the next page. I loved this book, that while reading it i craved the finish to find david's outcome, and at the end, longed for it to go on! i highly recommend this book to all vampire lovers!

I, Vampire by Michael Romkey is a great book. As a 12 year old when I read it, I spent many school nights reading this book to the early morning hours before finally falling asleep. I have never read a vampire book that seemed so real. It had none of those fake myths you hear your friends talking about. It had mind reading, and the blocking of presences. I loved the charcters; Tatiana, Mozart, Ariel, Rasputin. I Loved how Michael Romkey put Jack The Ripper into his story. My favorite thing was the love David had for Tatiana! I am now 13, and I am reading The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice. Even though I love Anne Rice's books, they do not compare to Michael Romkey's I, Vampire. I will defiantly read other books in his series. I, Vampire is a must read...for sure.
