Candy Benet is a smart, attractive, loving, and sensitive woman with a great head on her shoulders. There is just one problem her sense of direction as it pertains to men takes her down multiple winding roads with dead ends. Longing for a happily-ever-after, Candy attracts numerous men only to have her fairytale ending crash and burn time and time again. As each relationship begins and ends, her weight yo-yos up and down, reflecting her own struggle with affairs of the heart and the effects of repeated emotional roller coasters. A semi-workaholic for a large Fortune 500 company as Director of Finance, Candy puts in long hours with her supervisor, Gabriel Justice. Gabriel is an attractive, powerful, and candid man with a surprising outlook on life. His unconventional personality, generosity, and sexiness are the talk of the office and even the media. However, Candys sweetness is his weakness. Over time, Candy and Gabriels work relationship evolves into something much more, but looming overhead are Candys suspicions, her past, and self-sabotage which interfere in ways that neither of them dreamed imaginable. Soon an office romance becomes the least of their problems thanks to an ex who will stop at nothing to destroy everything Candy holds dear. With their careers and relationship at stake, will they be able to conquer these obstacles in pursuit of a delicious and full life?

One of the marks of a true writer is whether or not they are able to go beyond simply entertaining the reader, but can they grab the reader emotionally? Can an author place so much emotion, depth and situational circumstances into ficticious characters that you laugh, cry and get angry as you grip the book, with tearful eyes of joy and heartbreak? Author Tiana Laveen has done just that in her newest release, I Want Candy. Laveen takes us by the hand and introduces to us Candy Benet; walking us up and down the roller coaster she calls life as we watch her relationships between her bestfriends Jasmine and Dallas, her men, her parents, her boss. We begin to expect the unexpected pitfalls as we learn not only the truth in Candy's life, but the truth in our own. Laveen takes women from the petite size 4's that many of us used to adorn to the "bittersweet 16's and possibly the legal eagle 18's" as she intricately weaves the meaning of our fluctuating weight into our fluctuating lifestyle. Although her attention to the smallest detail may seem overwhelming at times, you will find Laveen's work captivating. Laveen has broken down barriers as she merges genres from fiction and non-fiction, erotica and realistic delving into a world that holds no bars. Giving you a glimpse of marriage at it's worse but also at it's best whether they be of the same race or interracially mixed, you will find yourself loving them and hating them, but most of all emotionally attached to them. I am impressed by Tiana Laveen and strongly recommend that you pick up this work, I Want Candy, prayerfully you will find that you too, will become a fan of Tiana Laveen.
