This latest book in the "Little Princess" series, which is designed to humorously address issues of the toddler and preschool set, tackles the problem of weaning children from pacifiers. The simple story line follows the Little Princess through many parts of her day, such as mealtime, bath time, playtime and bedtime in which her pacifier mysteriously disappears and then is found in a very unlikely place. Ross uses a humorous counter plot in his whimsical pictures that adults will enjoy. For while the words portray a puzzled Little Princess each time her pacifier is innocently misplaced, the illustrations always show a mysterious hand slipping the pacifier away when she isn't looking. Staying true to the stubborn nature of toddlers, Little Princess never gives in to the wishes of "the hand" to give up her pacifier, but she readily discards it when an older child tells her, "That pacifier looks stupid."
