Editorial Reviews

CM Magazine - Denise Weir
By varying the age and gender of the subjects in the photographs, Liebman has also conveyed the limitless appeal and opportunities available in the world of music. Highly Recommended.
Children's Literature
One of the "I Want to Be" series, this easy reader book describes the life of a musician, complete with full-color photographs of musicians in action. Though the book shows different kinds of musicians (i.e. rock band members, symphony members, and students learning to play), the text is not cohesive. It is as though each page is a freestanding, two sentence story with little or no bearing on the next. Also, the pictures are fuzzy and digitized; many are pixilated and of poor quality. The book does, however, show a wide variety of people from different ethnic backgrounds, genders, and ages. It also includes age-appropriate vocabulary related to music throughout the book. Unfortunately, there is no glossary to look up terms or references to find out more information about being a musician. This book would be appropriate for a school library reference section. 2003, Firefly Books, Ages 3 to 8.
