He can't help paint the house. Finally, mad at the world, Little Critter announces he will run away. When pals come by and ask him to come and play baseball, our young hero's mood quickly changes. He grabs his bat and heads off for the game, telling himself he can run away another day if he is still so mad.

While reading this book with my child I remembered how 'mad' I used to get when everyone kept telling me I couldn't do this and couldn't do that. Now I see my own child getting mad when told 'NO!' It's just like real children who are mad, but when something good does come along, they forget they were ever mad at all. True to life where parents and children are concerned but funny as well if you can laugh at yourself. Mayer seems to know a lot about parents, children and their association (s).

Critter has been part of our family for over 2 decades. This was one of my childrens favorites growing up and we are now reading them to our grandchildren. Critter is just too cute not to love and each child will identify with something in the book. His little bug friends have always been parts of my favorite things. You will read them over and over again, enjoying each time. We have multiple collections in each household, can't be with children without Critter.

I bought this book when my children were small because it taught a valuable life lesson and now I am going to buy it again for my grandchildren. Mercer Mayer wonderfully illustrates for parents and children things that help them cope with everyday life beautifully! I can't thank the author enough for creating these books! I also love The Messy Room, When I get Bigger and many other books by this author!

This book is great for little critters who love to look at pictures and learn how to read. I love Mercer Mayer because he uses lots of small letters to make it easyier for the kids to read. My family and I injoy lots of his books.
