Overview

"The best part of my life has been the honor of sharing this tree branch with you..."

Youth minister Lisa-Marie Calderone-Stewart gives a powerful testament to life in I Wasn’t Dead When I Wrote This, a collection of the best practical advice she has given and received while working with young people. Written in her final months before dying of cancer, here are a few examples of Calderone-Stewart’s wise counsel:
Learning how to forgive is one of the most essential tasks of adulthood.

You don’t have to save the world.
You only have to find the one area in which you can serve.

Don’t waste a minute of your life regretting who you are or
wondering why you couldn’t be some other person.
You are just what the world needs now.

It is never too late to change your life or to shape someone else’s— and Calderone-Stewart does just that with this honest, heartfelt perspective on living written a few months before dying.

Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

"I Wasnt' Dead When I Wrote This is a great book full of wisdom about how to live authentically and joyfully, and it’s extremely perceptive."
-- Ginny Moyer, Random Acts of Momness

"I Wasn't Dead When I Wrote This touched me in a way I wasn’t quite expecting. Written literally in the last few months of her life, this book is a gift of stories and insight to young people from a dedicated and loving youth minister.
Johnathan Sullivan, Director of Catechetical Ministries, Springfield, IL

"Although the author was a youth minister and the book is pitched as advice to the young, her words speak to the bald, paunchy, and gray-haired as well."
- U.S. Catholic

"This book is an all around winner for the life of a Christian teen. The voice in which it is written, the issues raised, and the penetration of the inner life of a teen, possess startling accuracy. While it is written by an adult, the urgency of having the courage to be your authentic self is the paramount issue for teens.”
- Catholic Press Association
