This is a great book for reading with a beer, or glass of wine.

This is a great book for reading with a beer, or glass of wine. I would give it 4.5 stars, if I could. I bought the Nook version of I, Wayne Gretzky looking forward to the wit, self-deprecating humor and keen observations on humanity promised in the summary and that I learned of (full disclosure) through a brief acquaintance with the author during his early exploration days. For the most part, I got what I what I was promised. It was like being back in the pub, listening to this gifted storyteller entertain any and all who would listen. So, why not 5 stars? The stories reveal much about the writer and the incidents, but generally end without conveying the impact and consequence of the experiences beyond general summaries and dismissals. As I finished stories, I found myself wondering "what about it?" (meaning, "What did this mean for your life?" or "What did you learn from this?") often enough to feel a bit slighted, or sad for the author, as I clicked to the next page. The other problems I had with the book, which are probably limited to the Nook version, are the poor resolution of reproductions and design issues. The scanned notes and letters are illegible, which made me feel I was "missing" pieces that would enrich the stories, and the captions are consistently separated from photos.Minor annoyances, to be sure, but annoyances nonetheless.
