Children's Literature - Kate Walker
Learn about the whole world in this appealing volume of geographical facts. Starting with the solar system and progressing through the makeup of earth's land and seas, to maps and continents, to ecological geography, Doyle packs a lot of information into his pages. Complicated scientific information is distilled into age-appropriate language, but never talks down to the reader. The playful illustrations both amuse and educate, while the text gives hefty information in easily digestible bites. However, do not think that these ?bites' jump around: the topics flow easily and logically from one point to the next, and though many breaks are provided, it is easy to see a young reader devouring the entire text in a few sittings. This book is a must-have for any child with an insatiable desire for knowledge, as well as an indispensable addition to libraries that wish to engage those reluctant to be educated in geography. A part of the "I Wish I Knew That" series. Reviewer: Kate Walker
