Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Phyllis Kennemer
Noodles (a rambunctious white puppy) loves his new toy Squeaky (a small rubber mouse). Noodles's dog friends are curious about Squeaky and want to play with the toy, but Noodles refuses to share. After struggling with a black dog and an orange dog, Noodles retrieves Squeaky and sulks while holding the toy firmly under his paws. He realizes that he is not having fun and comes up with an idea. He tosses Squeaky into the air, and all three dogs engage in an active game of "catch." They take turns and have a great time together. Illustrations of the three dogs and the toy mouse appear against white backgrounds. This Level 1 Scholastic Reader with sight words to sound out and simple sentences offers a fun introduction or a gentle reminder about sharing. Young children will likely understand the message and take pride in reading the "Noodles" series book on their own. Reviewer: Phyllis Kennemer, Ph.D.
