Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Joanne Nordin
Sid the sloth lived in the ice age and he finds out his friends, Ellie and Manny, are going to have a baby. Sid felt left out and as he is feeling sorry for himself he falls through the ice and finds three large eggs. Sid takes the eggs and cares for them until they hatch. His friends, Ellie and Manny, find out about Sid taking care of the eggs and advise him to return the eggs to their mother. Sid tells them there is no mother and he proceeds to care for the eggs until they hatch. The three babies turned out to be dinosaurs. Sid was happy because he was finally a parent with three dinosaur babies. The real dinosaur mother returns finding out her eggs have hatched and she is not happy, she is angry. Mother and Sid along with the babies all move back to the jungle. Sid along with the mother finds a way to care for the babies until Sid misses his home. Sid parts ways with the mother and returns to his home where he finds out his friends missed him and were looking for him. Sid realized that his friends cared for him and that the family he longed for was right in front of him, that being his circle of friends. The story line tells how some one may wish for something and all they have to do is look right in front of them and do not have to travel too far to find their dream. This is part of the "Reading with Help" series. Reviewer: Joanne Nordin
