It's never too early for an ICE POP!

When I received this book about two weeks ago I was so excited to try out the recipes. I started reading the book and the recipes and I found everything to be easy to make. My toddler looked over my shoulder and saw the pictures and said "I want some".

The author's method is simple. Use organic fresh fruits and vegetables, use natural sweeteners, and get your kids involved.

I am a mother that does "sneak" veggies in the our meals. Main reason for this is that I do put veggies on the plate, but I don't feel the pressure of having him have to eat all of his veggies...a try and I am good with it knowing that I have placed his veggies serving elsewhere.

So this book was perfect for us. So far I have tried "Vincent's Chocolate Wonder" and "Orange Joy" and loved it. I had all of the ingredients in front and together we made the pops. He is in the stage of "What's that" and "Why"...so it was perfect explaining the ingredients and why it is important for our bodies.

He is already looking at other pages and wanting to try next one.

Wish I Had This Book When My Kids Were Younger

This is a fun cookbook of healthy and delicious popcicle and frozen treat recipes. They are geared to appeal to kids but I think adults would enjoy them too. The focus is on using fresh, organic ingredients and natural sweeteners. The ingredients seem to be those that can be found in any grocery store, especially larger ones that have organic food sections.

I haven't tried any of the recipes yet for lack of proper molds and sticks, but based on the ingredients used, the recipes that sounded good and that I'd actually try included Pure Sunshine (using strawberries, lemons, mint and honey), Breakfast Ice Pops (using almond butter, bananas, yogurt and wheat germ), Heavenly (using white chocolate, coconut milk, agave nectar and walnuts), and Pomalicious (using pomegranate juice, raspberries and cherry tomatoes).

Some recipes include tofu to increase the nutritional value of the treats with a boost of protein. Tofu also takes on the other flavors used so those who normally don't care for it probably wouldn't notice it in these recipes. Other recipes use healthful herb teas.

If I still had younger children at home, I'd definitely be trying these recipes and appreciate the attention to wholesome ingredients and ways to add sweetness without the use of refined sugar.
