Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
Pallotta is known for his counting books and this certainly was one of the most popular when it appeared in its original form. For those who may be fussy about the term bug, there is a disclaimer noting that only four of the creatures mentioned are true bugs while the rest are arachnids, diplipods, crustaceans and insects. It really does not matter, kids will have a lot of fun counting from one to twenty-six and learning about these creatures most of us call bugs. Those who are paying close attention will notice that the names run from Z to A and thus if you read the book from back to front you can learn the alphabet. Lots of fun and plenty of good information; this book has truly made the transition from a picture book. 2004 (orig. 1986), Charlesbridge, Ages 1 to 7.
