Mofina does a great job in developing his California characters, in his introductory novel, If Angels Fall. The book will keep you on your toes because the story combines all pieces of the puzzle into a flawless ending. However, No Way Back his third paperback is a much better read.

This is a great book. I picked it up three days ago and couldn¿t put it down. It¿s a wonderful potboiler about a kidnapper of kids in San Francisco and the clock-is-ticking attempts by homicide detectives and a crime reporter to catch the bad guy before he strikes again. From the very first chapter, the story is full of fast-paced, plot-driven suspense and some very well drawn characters, particularly Tom Reed, the cop reporter and Walt Sydowski, the veteran homicide cop. The author has an excellent grasp of newsrooms and police investigative techniques, and uses the S.F. setting to great effect. It¿s a first novel, and a good one. Couldn¿t
