If Jesus Lived Inside My Heart is a wonderful little board book for children 3 to 6 years old. The book is published by Candy Cane Press, a division of Guideposts Company and has a publication date of October 2007. The mini-lessons on good manners, sharing and caring, by children's author Jill Roman Lord, are written in the rhythmic verse children love to hear: And if there were one cookie left, I'd know just what to do... I'd split it with my brother 'cause He'd want a cookie too. The endearing illustrations, by Amy Wummer, portray the verse, showing children the many ways we can let Jesus shine through us when we are kind and compassionate. A perfect read aloud for little ones.

I've been waiting for this one! My great niece Olivia is going to love looking at every page! The lilting rhymes beg to be repeated. Topics covered are sharing, forgiveness, talents, ownership of actions. Soothing but eye-catching illustrations remind us to care for the aged or disabled as well as connect with extended family living far away. Jill Roman Lord has packed some serious character-building in this little board book. But more than anything she leaves with any reader the truth that it is possible for Jesus to live inside my heart.
