Overview

When Vancouver photographer Tom McCall’s former lover walks back into his life, he knows trouble can’t be far behind. She’s stolen from him in the past, taking much more than his heart. Now she needs his help. Can McCall resist? No. But when she disappears a few days later, McCall is left facing far worse danger than he’d ever imagined. He’s not the only one she has ripped off. Others are out to get her and they’re sure McCall knows where she is.

“Michael Blair’s If Looks Could Kill is, by turns, as darkly evocative as film noir, and as breezy as a spring day on Granville Island. There are many pleasures here: a witty hero obsessed with a woman as dangerous as she is lovely, a white knuckle mystery, and a lively cast of West Coast characters.” – Gail Bowen, author of the Joanne Kilbourn mystery series.

Meet the Author

Michael Blair’s first story was accepted for publication in his high school yearbook, but they lost the manuscript. He then set his sights on becoming a commercial artist, but after a rude awakening in the advertising department of a national retail chain, and a two-week (sic) stint in the RCAF, he started his collection of rejection slips. He’s worked as a truck driver, quality control clerk in a gasket factory, graphic designer, carpenter, second hand bookstore proprietor, copy writer, art reviewer, computer administrator, and, since 1994, as a freelance technical writer/editor. To date he’s published five mystery novels.

My curiosity got the better of me. It was well written with lots of twists although some were a little more predictable than others. Overall it was a good book with an excellent ending.

I could not finish this book. It was incredibly boring. AD

This book talks way too much about street names and directions to where the characters are going making it really annoying. I have gotten half way through and literally nothing interesting has happened at all. I won't be reading the rest...

Story could hve had more content than what streets the main character was driving on

Interesting well-told story. Quite a page-turner. Characters are relatable and for the most part believable. Although, I think the main character is a little less so. Blair intertchanges him as hero and wussy - so it's hard to say who he really is. Additionally, editing missed quite a few typos, so that took away from my reading experience. Overall, a good book. Especially considering it was Blair's first novel.

A delightful romp through the vagaries of human nature. I enjoyed even though it was missing a page here and there.
