If You Give a Moose a Muffin

Overview

If a big hungry moose comes to visit, you might give him a muffin to make him feel at home. If you give him a muffin, he'll want some jam to go with it. When he's eaten all your muffins, he'll want to go to the store to get some more muffin mix.

In this hilarious sequel to If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, the young host is again run ragged by a surprise guest. Young readers will delight in the comic complications that follow when a little boy entertains a gregarious moose.

Where Will Giving a Moose a Muffin Lead?   When you see a moose out your kitchen window, you might be tempted to give him a muffin.  That is, of course, a nice gesture.  But can you really eat a muffin without jam?  And that jam might make a mess, and then who knows where that might lead.  Somehow, I think it will be a fun tale (or is that tail).   Once again, this imaginative author has written a good that is fun.  The progression is pretty wild, but it also seems logical as you are going along.  The illustrations are wonderful as well and really help tell the story, which is told in just a couple of sentences on a page.   The wild imagination is great for all ages, but kids especially will enjoy seeing where things lead.  Pick this up today and see just what feeding a moose might get you into.

This is an overall fantastic read! Younger children will love it! I do not recommend it to children over 8 years old because it is a bit short. But, other than that, kids will love it! There's just something about animals eating such American foods that sets off their imagination! Your toddler or younger child will be ecstatic about IF YOU GIVE A MOOSE A MUFFIN! I strongly recommend this story!

Bought this book for our church nursery. The kids love it. They ask for it to be read over and over again.

As with her other books in this series--If You Give a Mouse a Cookie,etc.--this book will be a real favorite with young readers. As children watch the progression of the story line, they can empathize with the moose's need to get his muffin and get things right. From the humorous situation with a torn sweater to mess resulting from the preparations for the puppet show to the need for a nap after an exhausting day, the story builds to its inevitable conclusion. The colorful illustrations, uncluttered pages, and simple vocabulary make it a fun read for parents as well as the children they read to.

I purchased this book for my 2 year old grandson. He already has If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, and enjoys reading that book again and again. This version is just different enough to keep his attention and still laugh at the silly situations. The series can help to teaching sequencing to youngsters, and understanding consequences, but it's mainly for fun.

This is one you won't mind being asked to read over and over. The story line is simple and imaginative and the illustrations are incredibly charming. It's an easy read and the silly things that happen as each page becomes more elaborate will tickle the youngest child and the most sophisticated reader. No heavy messages, just a fun story so perfect for bedtime or to ease a sad day.

My brother sent us this book and at the age of 35yrs old it is one of my favourites. I am training to be a teacher and everytime I am in a different class I read the book. My children have had me come in and read it to their class and at kindy. The kids all really enjoy it. I plan on having it as part of my class and make sock puppets. It is lots of fun. Every child should have it

I don't care how old I am, but this happens to be one of my favorite books ever. So what if I am 19, but this book is awesome no matter how old someone is.

The 'If You Give...' books are great for young readers. Every child should have a copy of this book and others like it. If you are a teacher of young students you should have these books in your classroom. Great books for children who are just learning to read.

This gem should be on every kid's bookshelf. I can imagine my son, years from now, going through his old belongings as he prepares for college. All the memories come rushing back as the book goes into the KEEP pile. Really, it's wonderfully enchanting across the parent/child age gap. And I'm not even all that high right now.

I checked this book out at our local library and was amazed at how wonderful it was. It is a truly wonderful piece of children's literature. The story is very sweet, fun and fanciful and it quickly became my son's favorite book. It is surely to be a hit with any child.
