I think this book is great because not only does it teach about the history of the Hopi, it also gives you some info you could use if you were in the desert. I t's in an easy to read format and I love it!
This book about the life of Hopi Indians is very accurate and ideal for children. The author has researched her material well and presented it in a very easy to read format. I highly recommend this to children studying about Indians of the Southwest.
I purchased this book along with a few of the other "If You Lived With..." books from the series for my eight year old grandchild. I was very pleased with the other books but disturbed with this one. It seems far too graphic for a preteen child in its description of how the Hopis were mistreated by missionairies, etc. My grandchild enjoyed the books about Iriquois, Cherokees, Pacific NW Indians, in this series, which were all tastefully done. But the "Hopi" book in the series is going into my trashcan!!! One less copy to be sold that might give an unsuspecting child nightmares.
