Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Jennifer Bertman
Part of the "Word Fun" series, this title is a colorful and imaginative introduction to the role of the pronoun in the English language. The text poses the scenario of what you would be doing if you were a pronoun and gives example sentences with the pronouns emphasized in a bold, colorful font. Readers will learn that if they were a pronoun they would replace nouns and help sentences sound less repetitive, they could ask questions as an interrogative pronoun, they could point something out without naming it by being a demonstrative pronoun, and more. The illustrations bring the examples to life, making them more active and more entertaining. Included at the end of the book is a pronoun activity, a glossary, references for learning more about pronouns, an index, and a list of the other books in the series. Although the picture book format is designed to appeal to younger children, older children and adults might also appreciate the fun and simple approach to grammar.
