Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
Raffi provides his own take on this familiar song. As the back cover copy says, "Singing supports and encourages even the youngest child's speech and listening skills." In this version there are plenty of invitations for bodily movement, as kids are invited to clap, stamp, and shout along with Cyd Moore's lovable animals. Raffi adds his extra verses with bananas, but at the end they all shout "Hurray!" The really extra special part of this book is that all of the animals efforts are leading up to a big birthday bash for one of their friends. It is a lot of fun, and great for teachers, child care providers, and parents who may be familiar with the song, but now have a chance to share Raffi's interpretation.
