Overview

When her father is murdered by a Taliban cell in the tribal regions of Pakistan, Khalia Patterson reluctantly steps into his shoes to carry on the legacy of Fair Start Foundation, a non-profit group dedicated to furthering the education of girls. There she meets Hunter Phillips, the ex-SEAL and head of her Titanium security team, and quickly learns that coming to Pakistan might prove to be a deadly decision.

Battling demons of his own, Hunter grudgingly leads Khalia’s protective detail as a favor to his boss. From their first meeting it’s clear she’s going to be trouble, and that the cell that killed her father is hell bent on taking her out as well. Keeping her alive is one of the toughest assignments he’s ever faced, yet through one harrowing situation after another she continually impresses him with her strength and inner courage. Even though he fights his feelings for her, it’s a losing battle. And when the job is over, he doesn’t know how he’ll let her go.

    Action romance

Set in Pakistan, the action explodes from one moment to the next. Sexy ex-Seal who is overcoming the recent combat death of a team member heads the security team for Khalia, whose father was kidnapped and murdered by the Taliban militants. Khalia holds up well through each conflict, as the romance builds. Smoothly written, filled with action, throw in some thought-provoking comments about the power of education, especially for women in a modern Islamic setting, and political corruption and influences that drive the militants. This is a good action adventure as well as a romance.

    Loved it!

    REASONS it rocked:
    Really great action scenes!
Hunter and Khalia are so ideally suited, and so much happier with each other than without. Great romance.

    TIDBITS that bugged:
    Formatting issues!--
Italicizes words have NO SPACE before them, such that they run together with preceding word.
Occasionally, scenes run together without definitive scene breaks.

All in all, a promising start to a series.

    Recommend it!

Kudos to Kaylea Cross!!! With Ignited, Kaylea Cross has shown us

    Kudos to Kaylea Cross!!!
With Ignited, Kaylea Cross has shown us all just how to write a gritty, realistic and truthful novel. Ignited is the first in Cross’s new Titanium Security series and it’s a must read for fans of Military Romantic Suspense…..heck, it’s a must read for anyone who just plain loves a fantastic story!!!
When Khalia Patterson’s father was killed by a Taliban cell in the Tribal region of Pakistan, she makes it her mission to see that the school for girls he was opening in the region actually gets to open. Arriving in Pakistan as head of the Fair Start Foundation, she meets her personal security detail from Titanium Security, led by ex-Navy Seal, Hunter Phillips.
Khalia is a school teacher who is still grieving deeply over the horrific death of her father. Khalia is beautiful, intelligent, kind and very realistic. She knows that Tribal Pakistan is not her usual neighbourhood and she is ill-equipped to survive there without Hunter and his team. But even knowing the Taliban is after her, she is determined to carry on her father’s legacy.
Hunter is a damaged soul, having lost is best friend on their last mission, a mission that is tied in to Khalia’s father’s murder. But Tom Webster, head of Titanium Security, wants Hunter to be the Team Lead on Khalia’s detail…Hunter knows this area well and he knows how to deal with the people there.
Their initial meeting doesn’t go well but Hunter and Khalia have to trust each other in order for her to get in and out of the Girl’s School alive. When Hunter saves Khalia during a double car bombing, that trust is quickly earned……along with respect and admiration. Hunter swiftly figures out that there is more to Khalia than a mild-mannered teacher.
Hunter soon finds himself breaking his personal rule of keeping personal distance from his Principal. He is drawn to Khalia in a way that he has never been drawn to any other woman. Yes, she is beautiful, but that is only part of the attraction, her inner strength and inner beauty call to him like none before. As a relationship-challenged man Hunter just doesn’t know what to do with these unfamiliar new feelings.
Once again, Kaylea Cross has written a story that draws in the reader from word one. It’s not a quick, sickeningly sweet romance that some authors push out. This book has it all – action, adventure, a love story – and it’s all realistic and relevant. Cross takes her time to let the reader know her characters, they’re not thrown together. She pulls out the aspects of their personalities and relationships in a way that makes the reader feel that they really know Hunter and Khalia, Gage and Tom. She did the same with their love story, and it developed while the characters are facing dangers that are true to their situation and location.
Kaylea Cross is a master storyteller who brings her characters to life in the pages of her books. Ignited is a book that is impossible to put down because it hits every note that this reader wants in a Romantic Suspense book. The elements of suspense and desire, the sensation of urgency and danger, the feelings of terror and courage were perfectly blended together to create a story that swept me in from page one. Cross brings a richness to her storytelling that just begs you to keep on reading.
I became a fan after reading the first two books in the Bagram Special Ops series. When I read your Suspense Series I became an even bigger fan. But you've taken your stories and your writing to a whole new realm with Ignited!!! I can’t wait to see what you have in store for us in Singed (Gage and Claire’s story)….August 15th can’t come soon enough!!!!!!
