Overview

Illustrator cc, A Journey in Project Based Learning is targeted at beginning and intermediate, Digital Art and Design Students. This book takes students through a series of scaffolding projects while providing fundamental Art skills, and knowledge in Vector Based Artwork and Graphic Design. Each project establishes a link to the California Technical Education Standards (CTE) in the Arts and Entertainment Sector as well as preparing students for the AdobeIllustrator Certified Associate (ACA) exam. Although each lesson in this book provides step-by-step instruction for creating specific projects, the steps, techniques, and tools covered allow for students to experiment and explore with their own ideas. This book is designed to be followed in sequence, however, if the students skills and understanding are advanced enough, they can jump to any Unit that corresponds to their interests and needs. Each Unit / Lesson includes a Testing Your Understanding, and Key Vocabulary section that was covered in each Unit. All questions and vocabulary in each Unit is aligned to the Adobe Certified Associate (ACA) Exam Preparation that summarize and reinforces what students have learned.

About the Author

I am a lifelong learner with a lifetime love of Art and Graphics. As a young boy of age 9 and to fuel my passion for Art, I took on odd jobs in order to purchase art supplies. By the age of Seventeen I began working on my military career as an active duty Marine for eight years traveling the world, taking in the beauty and Art of different cultures and concurrently continuing my passion as an artist and graphic designer. At the age of twenty-five I transferred to the Army Reserve to build a family and begin my college career. Over the next eleven years while a college student and serving in the Army Reserve, I took on part-time jobs for Sony, Disney, Warner Bros, and DC Comics. I completed my college career with a master’s in graphic design and a Single Subject Teaching Credential in the Arts. Now, after 33 years military service and a retired Army Lieutenant Colonel, I continue my passion for art and graphics as a California High School Technical Education (CTE) educator teaching in the Arts and Entertainment Sectors.
I hold a California Teaching Credential with an emphasis in Advance Art and Graphic Design, a California Administrator Service Credential, and a Certification in the Adobe Creative Cloud (CC) suite. I have been an educator for the past twenty-three years and I currently serve as a High School California Technical Education teacher and lead Arts and Entertainment Sector Pathway Lead. In addition to serving as a High School educator, I have served as an Adjunct Professor of Graphic Design at both Junior college and the Four-Year University levels of education for over twenty-six years. In my many roles as an educator, I have developed certified courses for the Visual Media Arts, and California Technical Education Programs, and developed curriculum adopted by the California Department of Education and University of California, Los Angeles. Over my many years as an Educator, I have developed, tested, surveyed, refined and most importantly, proved the functional content within my Visual Media Art Series. This book sets up an entire years program in preparation for certification in Adobe Illustrator CC. Well, enough about me, now let’s get into the book.
