Your kids will want to read and listen along with this high-spirited Little Golden Book.                                                                                                             How-dee! My name’s Big Blue Bill, and I’m a truck. I’ve got 18 big wheels turning, 600 horses under the hood, and 53 feet o’ trailer hangin’ on behind . . .               So begins a book that introduces all types of trucks (with names such as Bony Tony and Leif the Logging Truck), narrated by a good ol’ boy semi-truck! Lively text and bold, colorful artwork of hip, anthropomorphic trucks will transport young readers down highways, into a truck stop, and onto a construction site.

This ebook includes Read & Listen audio narration.

The text was rather long, but engaging.  It managed to keep his attention all the way through, although that might have been because I sounded like I was starring in a bad spaghetti western when I read it.  Usually, books written in dialect are right up there with children's stories written in a forced rhyme on my list of things I don't like to read out loud, but Dennis Shealy did a pretty good job keeping the dialect light and funny. The artwork, of course, was perfect.  It was perfectly beautiful.  It was perfectly colorful.  It was perfectly elegant.  And it was perfectly humorous.  And it was (almost) enough to forgive this book for recalling my high school drama days.

This is a wonderful little gem. Beautiful, bold illustrations and great, expressive writing. My son comes back to this book time after time. As a parent, it's a fun one to read aloud.
