Dream Life Rates High on my Reading List

While on a short vacation, I brought along Michele VanOrt Cozzens' Dream Life book with an intent to start reading it. What better place than a vacation rental to read about the life on the other side of the counter? Well, I got so involved in the story, brought alive through VanOrt Cossens' wit, openness and homey nature, that I didn't mind the continual weekend rain. I snuck in all the time I could to read, without ignoring my travel companion, and finished the page turner. VanOrt Cozzens gives the reader a unique glimpse into the transformation she and her husband made to become resort owners and then provides insight into the work required to maintain that lifestyle. As with any business, issues arise that are initially unforseen: the destructive guest, a lackluster employee, the blocking of expansion plans, a lawsuit. VanOrt Cozzens' strength shows through as she tackles these people issues with straight-forwardness and humor. Her husband's strength shows through as he fixes all that breaks and keeps the physical part of the resort running smoothly. They complement one another well. Once they become parents, they also show the reader how they folded in their new role, not an easy feat to juggle the management of a forty-acre resort with disc golf course in the Wisoncin Northwoods, and the raising of two children. After reading, I give all consientious resort owner's a grand thank you for your support and work to make my vacations a dream.

    A Book for Working Moms

What a funny, well written story about the author and her family. As a working mom, I could really relate to all of her tales. She deals with the public and juggles a home life while everyone keeps telling her, 'you've got it made! What a dream life.' She tells the truth about the hard work and the struggle to make a profit with the business, but in the end, you can't help but think it might be something you'd try because she paints such a nice portrait of family life--she's a working mom, but she gets to work along side her family. So, maybe it IS a dream life!!
