I'm Not Good At Poetry: (but I wrote this anyway)
I'm Not Good at Poetry
(but I wrote this anyway)

This isn't the kind of poetry that wins awards or gets dissected in college classrooms. It's messy. It rambles. It spirals. It mourns.

It laughs mid-breakdown. It talks about generational trauma, loneliness, depression, grief, the political state of the world, and why Romeo probably didn't love Juliet all that much.

These pages hold the thoughts I wasn't sure anyone else would understand. Written between late nights and long silences, this is a love letter to the average person-the almost muse, the fangirl, the person who will never save the world but still somehow makes it more bearable just by being in it.

If you've ever felt like too much or not enough, like the world is falling apart and also weirdly beautiful, then maybe-just maybe-this is for you.

About the Author

Marianna Page is a writer and poet who grew up in Fort Wayne, Indiana before relocating to Atlanta, Georgia during middle school. From a young age, she found herself drawn to creative spaces—participating in theater, fine arts, and chorus throughout middle and high school. Her love for storytelling first took root at age twelve, when she began writing fanfiction on Wattpad and immersing herself in a wide range of fandoms. That experience not only shaped her voice but also sparked a lifelong passion for character-driven narratives and emotionally rich storytelling.

Marianna fell in love with both poetry and prose, often blending the two to explore themes of identity, emotion, and belonging. Deeply inspired by books, anime, film, and television, her favorite stories are those that leave a lasting emotional impact. Some of her most formative influences include The Catcher in the Rye, the Beautiful Creatures gothic novel series, and Will Grayson, Will Grayson. On the anime side, her top-tier titles include Kamisama Kiss, Naruto, Banana Fish, and Kodocha.

Now based in Atlanta, Marianna continues to create work that reflects her deep love for language, character, and the transformative power of stories. Her writing has been featured in Everscribe Magazine, Sundrop Magazine, Rhyme & Reverie Lit, and The Chrysanthemum Review. She thrives in autumn, lives for rainy days, and has a well-earned reputation among her friends as “Soup Girl”—a title she proudly wears.
