A little vampire bat takes stock of all the creepies in the castle and decides he's scarier than all of them! But the creepies? They're not convinced. Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
Sherry's (I'm the Biggest Thing in the Ocean and I'm the Best Artist in the Ocean!) latest hubristic hero, a purple vampire bat who makes the titular claim, is debuting in a board book, unlike his predecessors. Though he looks about as harmless as a puppy, he demonstrates (quite mischievously) his spooky superiority to spiders, a skeleton, a mummy, and even a werewolf. Nothing shakes him—until the lights go out, and the other castle residents give him a scare. Sherry does a great job establishing the bat's boastful, mischievous, and (to his peers) annoying personality; readers will enjoy seeing him get a taste of his own medicine and embrace a new identity as "the cutest thing in this castle!" Up to age 2. (Aug.)

Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
This vampire bat thinks that he is the scariest thing in the castle? No, the spiders are not, the skeleton cannot even hang onto his bones, the mummy is unraveling, and the ghost and witch do not have a chance of beating this little bat. Suddenly the lights go out and all the others scream "Boo." So what happens to the little bat? He is scared and now all the ghosts and other creatures are calling him a cutie pie. Never one to let anything get him down, our little bat continues bragging, because now he is the cutest thing in this castle. A Halloween book for the younger set that certainly should not give them a fright. Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot

This is the book my granddaughter (1 yr) loves the most! She loves the little vampire bat who thinks he is scary but finds out he is actually "Cute"! My niece (age 2 yrs) was scared of monsters, so I bought her this book and she loves it too--isn't scared of monsters anymore. I bought his other books because they loved this one so much. I will buy it for gifts in the future.

My son loves this short little book so much that we have to read it 3 times before bed. It is really cute and sweet, and a great way to introduce standard halloween characters to little ones.
