SIMPLE / REAL defined ! --- with a cherry on top.
first thing is first. finkelstein knows what the F he's talking about period his research is second to none, and his CASE is clear cut ( withOUT room for games / tricks).
this read serves well for anyone that wants to know the conflict between to neighbors and WHY one neighbor is guilty of pure nazism...finkelstein's parents were survivors of the warsaw ghetto maidanek and auschwitz concentration camps --- his case in exposing the filth ( * NAZI by nature) of isreal / zionist serves him well ( especially the puplic sane minds)...
LUCID read without the BS ! --- the sane ownes it to themselves to pore finkelstein's book(s).
    bless finkelstein / familty.

Dr. Finkelstein's struggle for tenure at DePaul University, May, 2007 is a struggle for democracy in America itself

'The origins of this book reach back to Israel's invasion of Lebanon in June 1982. I began then for the first time to read systematically about the Israel-Palestine conflict...I was intrigued by the debate joined by Michael Walzer and Noam Chomsky on whether a Jewish state can also be a democratic state. The research proved sufficiently fruitful that I was able to turn it into a doctoral dissertation. My thesis--that Zionism is a kind of Romantic nationalism fundamentally at odds with liberal values--is synthesized in the first chapter of this volume.'//////////// Norman Finkelstein IMAGE AND REALITY OF THE ISRAEL PALESTINE CONFLICT Introduction//////////// While conversing with Dr. Noam Chomsky of MIT via e-mail after buying a copy of IMAGE AND REALITY OF THE ISRAEL-PALESTINE CONFLICT, I was made aware of the battle for the soul of the American University System currently taking place. A battle masquerading as, albeit ideally represented by, Dr. Norman Finkelstein's personal battle for tenure at DePaul University against a corrupt political onslaught--led by nameable, undemocratic forces outside the school but within our country.//////////// I see in the writings of Finkelstein's supporters the realization that his analytical work on the horrors of European Romantic Nationalism and its particularly cancerous effect on Hebrew Civilization is the superlative embodiment of this principle I am describing: 'In particular I believe the Bush administration has used the Israeli state to it's own ends and allowed Israel to believe that it can continue the intransigent behavior that will ultimately be perilous to Israel's survival [Stephanie Bell, student].' //////////// In other words, it is becoming obvious to a growing number around the world via IMAGE AND REALITY and his other works that, far from being an enemy of intellectual rigor in the name of free speech, a demagogue with an axe to grind against his 'ideological enemies,' or a psychologically depraved hater of his own religious and cultural descent, Dr. Finkelstein's work is representative of the true love and support of free speech...the utmost regard for academic and personal integrity in the face of encouragement to the contrary...a peaceful warrior for human freedom and humanity's continuing evolution...a supporter of the foundations of democracy and democracy itself...and the honor and respect of the richness of Jewish culture and its people on its highest and most profound levels of meaning and relevance. In our Orwellian age, where, as my Grandmother used to say, 'They callin' right wrong and wrong right,' he dares to speak the truth to power--with a rigorous basis in documentary evidence--and as such speak for us all.//////////// I hope the teacher colleagues and administrative staffs of DePaul University remember the words of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. while Finkelstein fights for his professional life: 'At some point in time, silence equals complicity.' Few things can hurt the bottom line of a college more than being on the wrong side of history.
