Overview

A SCI FI/FANTASY NOVEL FOR TEENS AND ADULTS AS WELL......
Image of the Gods takes place on Barren five a colony world with a few hundred people who are on a world that is not all that habitable but they have help from earth and more important help from the creatures which live on the planet and are similar to natives especially in the fact that they helped the colonists survive their first winters but they have been different in the fact that the colonists have continued to treat these creatures quite well even though they have generally been unable to communicate with them.
The main conflict of the story is the landing of a new supply ship. The reason that this is a difficulty is because there is a new governor for the colony and new requirements to produces far more something that the colonists have no real desire to do and the planet is not really capable of but the government of earth has changed and are no longer interested in supporting colonies which cannot protect themselves.
The question quickly becomes what can they do about it and the only answer seems to be that they will try to meet the new production quotas as well as they can but they are not going to accept a governor, this is in effect a rebellion and one that has a reasonable chance of surviving the short term but there is no way they can expect to take over the ship and because of that there is no chance of them really winning long term since there will almost certainly be new ships sent and those ships will likely be order to simply bomb them rather than allowing them to be free since one free colony is going to make the others want the same.
There are a few things going on in this story and they are all interesting but in the end the story is fun to read and largely forgettable.
