Children's Literature
The author of The Teacher from the Black Lagoon, Owly, A Hippopotamus Ate the Teacher and over one hundred fifty other children's books takes readers through the creative journey of his life, from his elementary school desire to be a cartoonist through art school to his present life on a Christmas tree farm where he writes in bed. Accompanying the text are both black-and-white and full-color photographs of Thaler throughout his life, as well as reproductions of some of his works-in-progress. The latter are a reminder to children learning to revise that even famous authors don't always get it right the first time. This book is part of a colorful series of "Meet the Author" titles that includes biographies of Eve Bunting, Lois Ehlert, Jean Fritz, Laura Numeroff, and Jane Yolen, among numerous others. The books of this series are suitable for authorship studies at the upper elementary school level. 2003, Richard C Owen Publishers, Ages 7 to 10.

This book is about childrens story book writer names Mike Thaler, and in this book it tells how mike gets his ideas for his books and he says that he gets his ideas by asking teachers what tpyes for book children read most. Also he gets his ideas from his cartoon characters he draws. He says that imagination is one of the most important things in your life because it is what makes those great ideas come to life. Also he said that mousetraps and music were all imaginated ideas of someone.
