Walking home from a late-night shift at the hospital, Amy Bennett unwittingly stumbles into the violent, mysterious world of sexy Rhys Morgan. She wants him at once, but he's a man with dangerous secrets, and despite the explosive attraction between them, he seems determined to push her away.

One of the oldest of his kind, the intense Immortal warrior Rhys spends his nights on the streets of Chandler protecting the city from the demons that threaten to overrun it. Though strong, he now has a weakness...Amy.

His gift of premonition has always been a curse, and more so since Amy's death has begun haunting his dreams. But she's part of his world now, and Rhys doesn't know how to save her, or how to protect his heart.

I am hooked on this series! Immortal Duty hits the ground runnin

I am hooked on this series! Immortal Duty hits the ground running and keeps it going until the very end. This book is the first in a series that give an interesting spin on the battle between good and evil. The action is explosive, the characters are funny yet sexy, and the romance is delish! All this factors are combined together so well. Building slowly to the incredible ending, once you start this book, you will not be putting it down.

I love a book that has great strong characters. Weak characters can take a great story line and drag it down. Luckily, this isn’t the case here. I adore Amy! She so feisty and doesn’t take crap from Rhys or Gideon. Rhys is tough and sexy. Everything sizzles between Amy and Rhys from the dialog to the sex. The flow of the story transitions back and forth between the two main characters points of view so smoothly. Frankly, I enjoyed the dialog and interactions between all the characters (Baron’s my favorite!).

This is the second book in this series I have read. Unfortunately, I read the last one first and after reading this book, I have had a giant “AHA” moment. So far, both books work well as stand-alones but the characters are so great I highly suggest reading them all…preferably in order. Now I need to get my hands on the other books in the series.

I received this book from JeepDiva for the express purposes of an honest review. The opinions and rating of this review are solely mine and in no way was I compensated.

“The Immortal Warriors are bad ass and mysterious. Just how I like my alpha men.” ~Under the Covers

I read this book in 2009 when it was originally published with the title MY IMMORTAL. It was my first taste of J.K. Coi and I had enjoyed it! Then I saw that the series, IMMORTAL WARRIORS, was being re-released through Ellora’s Cave. First, it’s exciting to see the series being widely available again, and second… I couldn’t remember one thing about what happened in this book. So I had to read this re-release again!

The Immortal Warriors are bad ass and mysterious. Just how I like my alpha men. The basic concept of these immortals is that there are a few chosen people that are genetically predisposed to becoming an immortal and when an immortal dies, they “activate” that, whatever that is, and go through their transition.

Rhys and his men are fighting a rogue immortal of sorts that is after killing them all and in the process he meets Amy, a human doctor with quite a bit of spunk. While he is immediately attracted to her, and of course she’s attracted to the bad boy wearing leather, he wants to keep her away from him and his world of war and death. But faith had something different in mind because as it turns out Amy might just be right in the middle of the action.

This story has bad boys galore that you just want to read all about them, and a great concept, which sort of reminds me of the Wings in the Night immortals by Maggie Shayne. Rhys is a hot and sexy hero, if you’re like me and love a rough around the edges, leader, bad boy.

Since I don’t really remember the original story and I didn’t write reviews back then, if anyone has read these and knows if there were changes, I’d love to hear about it.

Can’t wait for the next book to be re-released! Yes, I have read the old version but I actually remember that one because it was more recent.
